Inspection of a work by Peter Paul Rubens in the Picture Gallery’s conservation studio
Peter Paul Rubens’ “Stormy Landscape with Jupiter, Mercury, Philemon and Baucis” was committed to the care of the Picture Gallery’s conservation studio in 2015. Composed in several stages on a panel of 16 oak planks, this highly complex structure is the subject of comprehensive technological examination and conservation carried out at Kunsthistorisches Museum in cooperation with the Getty Panel Paintings Initiative. Starting on 17 October 2017, a major Rubens exhibition will be on show at the Kunsthistorisches Museum.
