Exhibition Peyman Shafieezadeh, Homayoun Sirizi, Niko Wahl
The Austrian artist and historian Niko Wahl spent some weeks as an artist in residence in Tehran in 2015. In his works he deals with personal micro-narratives, small memories brought together to be put together to a bigger common picture with historical impact. In Iran he met the Iranian artist Peymann Shafieezadeh, whose thorough regard to the universe is a matter that indicates itself through the simplicity of his artworks and amazingly challenges the cultural issues of his surrounding society into a theoretical and ontological depth, and shares them with the audience in a quiet, unpretentious appearance. Homayoun Askari Sirizis installations, performances and video projects use humor and astute observations of the everyday to comment on Iran’s social and political landscape. With this great project, hinterland supports its main idea to connect people and cultures with art, to build bridges and foster mutual understanding.
